Washington SquareWashington Square Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) Originally named Southeast Square, and renamed to commemorate George Washington in 1825, Washington Square memorializes Washington but the numerous Revolutionary soldiers and sailors that are known to be buried there. The Square is thought to have more Revolutionary dead buried than at any other place in the nation.
